High Country Escape - Dinner Plain 06-08 of February 2026 for 2 People
If you’ve ever wanted to properly experience what your DEFENDER is capable of -this is the weekend for it.
We will head up to Dinner Plain, a small alpine village sitting over 1,500 metres above sea level, surrounded by snow gums and endless tracks that twist through Victoria’s High Country. It’s one of those places where every corner looks like a postcard, and every kilometre reminds you why you love driving.
You’ll arrive Friday at your own pace in your DEFENDER, settle into the alpine air and join everyone between 7–9pm for wood-fired pizza, a glass of wine, and a relaxed chat about the adventure ahead.
Saturday morning starts with breakfast and a quick driver briefing before we roll out into the Great Alpine region. You’ll learn a bit about the area’s history - old cattlemen’s huts, the original stock routes and some of the highest maintained roads in Australia - while putting your vehicle’s capability to the test.
Down in Mayford Valley, we’ll stop for a picnic-style lunch beside the river - the perfect spot to talk through wading depth, water crossings and recovery basics. There’s something special about watching people gain confidence in what their DEFENDER can really do, and that’s what the day is all about.
We’ll head back up the mountain for a relaxed Saturday night with great food, local wine and plenty of stories.
Sunday’s finale takes us up the Blue Rag Range Track one of Australia’s most iconic drives. The views stretch endlessly, the switchbacks are steep, and it’s a moment everyone should experience at least once. We’ll wrap up back in Dinner Plain with a BBQ lunch before farewells and the drive home.
